Molson Challenge Cup Action

St. Lawrence : 2 vs Mount Pearl : 1

Penalty shot sinks Mount Pearl

It was a penalty shot, that was awarded by referee Mike Howlett, to Rudy Norman of the St.Lawrence Laurentians in the dying minutes of the contest that gave St. Lawrence a 2-1 victory over Mount Pearl. Actually, the penalty came in referee's time. Mount Pearl had taken a 1st half lead, on a team goal, at the 21 minute mark. Paul Slaney had tied the contest for the Laurentians on a set up from Norman at the 75 minute mark. With this victory the Laurentians still remain 7 points ahead of the 3rd place Mount Pearl team after week-end play.
