PEI Ladies will be a no show at the Nationals

Prince Edward Island - Pilot House

Another No Show

The PEI Ladies will not be attending the Nationals in 2008. This is the second province in the ladies categories that won't be participating in the 2008 National Jubilee Trophy Competition. The other province, New Brunswick, won't be sending a ladies or a men's team to this years event. A full evaluation of soccer in these provinces needs to be done after this tournament by the CSA.
Holy Cross Ladies will Remain
The PEI team were in a division with British Columbia, Alberta, Nova Scotia and the Holy Cross ladies. Today at KGV soccer field I spoke with coach Paul Reddy of the Holy Cross team and asked him,"What's up now that the PEI team has dropped out?" He informed me that Holy Cross will remain in the tournament, and that the teams that PEI were scheduled to play will be awarded to their opponents. He also said he's not "really interested in getting points in that manner", but knowing the kind of competitor that Paul is, his response really didn't surprise me. I have to agree with him, it's very unfortunate but what else can you do? Holy Cross still has a very hard schedule and they are up against three strong opponents but you can rest assured they will be up for their games.
