Challenge Cup Press Release



The Molson Challenge Cup playoff schedule and finalists for individual awards have been announced by league commissioner Gord Dunphy.With all games scheduled for the Smallwood Pitch in Mount Pearl, the semi-finals are set Friday, August 31. First place Holy Cross/Kirby Group plays fourth place Mount Pearl/That Pro Look/Molson at 6:30 p.m. Second place St. Lawrence Labatt Laurentians and third place Feildians Ernst and Young meet at 8:30 p.m.The winners advance into the championship game, scheduled 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 2.

Individual awards for the 2012 season will be presented prior to the championship games.

Finalists for the Dick Power Memorial Award for the Most Valuable Player are ;
Steve Delong of Holy Cross/Kirby Group
Matthew Hamlyn of Mount Pearl/That Pro Look/Molson
Blaise Peters of Feildians Ernst and Young.

Finalists for the Ed Moyst Award for Rookie of the Year are:
 Jordi Slaney of St. Lawrence Labatt Laurentians
Ryan Thistle of Mount Pearl/That Pro Look/Molson
Brandon Noseworthy of Holy Cross/Kirby Group.

Finalists for the Jim Goff Memorial award for Most Spirited Player are:
Jake Warren of Holy Cross/Kirby Group
Sean Drew of Mount Pearl/That Pro Look/Molson
Blaise Peters of Feildians Ernst and Young.

Finalists for the Jeff Babstock Award for Top Defender are:
 Jeff Slaney of Holy Cross/Kirby Group
Marc Pittman of St. Lawrence Labatt Laurentians
John Kelly of Mount Pearl/That Pro Look/Molson.
