# 2 ----- All -Star Soccer Player, Johnny Breen, Inducted into Sport NL Hall of Fame

Johnny Breen

Soccer great John Breen of Holy Cross was elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame. His legacy in sport began at a very young age when he excelled at many sports including hockey and soccer. As time passed John continued with hockey, winning two Herder Memorial Trophies; however, soccer became a passion, when he accomplished many great things in his 30 year career on the field. With the success of two national championships, three Atlantic championships, 10 Challenge Cup and 19 city titles, John continued to influence the soccer community in a big way. In the 1980’s, his devotion and determination with Holy Cross gained him the recognition in this province as Player of the Decade. In 1996 he was inducted into the St. John’s Soccer Hall of Fame and in 2003 he was inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Hall of Fame. John proceeded to give back to the sport he loved by coaching at the local and provincial levels. John Breen is known as a man who has been admired and respected by all in the soccer community and represents soccer in Newfoundland and Labrador with leadership and class.

# 3 ----- 2010 NLSA MVP - Tyler Putt

Tyler Putt

Tyler Putt was named; NLSA Senior Male Player of the Year, the Most Valuable Player for 2010 in the Newfoundland Premiership Men's Soccer League and Challenge Cup All-Star goalie. Tyler is a former member of the Nova Scotia Canada Games team that won a bronze medal at the 2001 Canada Summer games. He has also been a standout with St. Mary's University and more recently with Memorial University in Newfoundland. Tyler played for 'Mount Pearl That Pro Look Molson'

# 5 ----- CBS Enters The Provincial Challenge Cup League



CBS enters Challenge Cup

One of the proudest moments in NLSA Senior Men's Soccer this past season was the entry of the CB Auto FC Strikers into Provincial Challenge Cup League. This group had excellent leadership, were very well organized and their play gained them much respect around the league. Of course their biggest win in their inaugural season was the victory over the Laurentians which may very well have caused St.Lawrence 2nd place this past season. All in all it was a great job done by the guys in charge !


# 6 ------ Clarenville hosts a Challenge Cup Contest for the 1st time ever






First Challenge Cup soccer game played in Clarenville

It was history in the making at the soccer field in Clarenville on Saturday July 10, 2010 as the St. Lawrence Laurentians and the St. John’s U-18s Capital Hyundai squad squared off in a regular season Challenge Cup soccer match. This was the first ever Challenge Cup game played in Clarenville. The Laurentians won the match with a close 3-2 decision over the St. John's under-18 squad.

# 7 ------ Burin Eagles Crowned NLSA Intermediate "A" Championship

Burin Eagles won both the NLSA Intermediate "A" and the BPSA Championships this past season . They went undefeated in both Championship tournaments.

# 8 ------ Mount Pearl , Rosie O'Grady Represents the NLSA at the Eastern Canadian Championships in NS

Mount Pearl Masters

Mount Pearl represents NLSA in Halifax, Nova Scotia

It was Mount Pearl Rosie O'Gradys that won the right to represent NL at the Eastern Canadian Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia this past summer. Mount Pearl won the right to represent by defeating Holy Cross in a best of three affair in two straight matches. Mount Pearl placed fifth at the ECC.


# 9 ----- St. Lawrence Masters Win the Provincial "A" Championship

St. Lawrence Masters

The St. Lawrence masters won the 2010 Provincial All -NL Masters "A" Championship this past season . They went undefeated in the tournament and defeated the heavily favored defending champions Mount Pearl Rosie O'Grady team in the championship match by a penalty shot shoot -out .
