Sincere Condolences on the passing
of Keith Walsh
On behalf of all of Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer, I want to express sincere condolences to the family on the passing of Keith Walsh Sr. On August 1st, Keith after a very courageous battle with cancer, passed away in St. Lawrence. Going back to the days in the 60's when I first became addicted to soccer I can remember Keith on the St. Lawrence Laurentian team that won the 1st Newfoundland Challenge Cup which went on to represent St.Lawrence at the Nationals in Toronto in 1967. Keith was a diminutive player but played with heart. He was fearless on the field and I will say he didn't mind mixing it up. I can vividly recall Gerald "Moose" Fitzpatrick being his partner in crime on the field. When ever Keith was there getting involved in some extra -curricula activity, Moose was there. They were buddies on and off the field. Not only was Keith heart on the field, he was all heart to his family and to the entire community of St. Lawrence. Keith Walsh was inducted into the St. Lawrence Hall of Fame in 1991.
