Burin Peninsula Intermediate Soccer League
It is great to see senior soccer being played at the Salt Pond Pitch in Burin again. This league is great, it gives Burin Peninsula Under 18's and 16's a league to develop and enhance their skills. It allows Grand Bank and St.Lawrence to have intermediate teams. The league also allows some masters players like Bob Spearns, Harry Kelly, Jeff Warren and Albert Anstey to get themselves fit for their Masters Tournament. These players can also help the younger players with their development.
I was very impressed with a couple of the Burin Peninsula Under 16's that presently play on the Provincial Under 16 Team. Burin Intermediates have a number of young guys that are there to be developed into good solid Challenge Cup Players. Maybe next season you may see three more teams added to the present four teams that are playing in the Provincial Challenge Cup League this season. If possible, I will be developing a third St. John's Team. I am totally convinced that the players exist on the Burin Peninsula for a second team. Then you will have the Provincial Canada Games team.
