Mount Pearl had a fairly easy time with the St.John's U-18's after the U-18's Brady Cole opened the scoring for his team at the 25 minute mark. Despite this opening goal, Mount Pearl maintained their composure and it was Sean Drew, who scored from a corner kick, at the 36 minute mark. Then at the 40 minute mark, Shane Antle who was a dominant force in Mount Pearl's midfield, scored giving Mount Pearl a 2-1 lead and building momentum when the first half finished.
The second half saw Mount Pearl work the ball beautifully and demonstrate very unselfishly as players kept looking for a open man
despite having great scoring opportunities of their own. At the 64 minute mark Chris White , who's starting to come in to his own and be a offensive weapon for Mount Pearl scored. This was followed by a
goal at the 72 minute mark by Travis Beck, from a superb setup from Mark
Reddy. Just two minutes later it was Shane
Antle denting the twine for his 2
nd goal of the contest,giving Mount Pearl squad,a convincing 5-1 lead. But the U-18's didn't die they fought back scoring twice and making the score respectable.Adam
Burry picking up a lose rebound from Gerald Connolly at the 78 minute mark scoring the U-18's second goal. This was followed up, just a couple minutes later, by a great shot going over the wall from young Matthew
Breen leaving Connolly with very little chance . This made the final score,Mount Pearl 5 and the St.John's U18's 3.
