St. Lawrence - 1 vs Feildians - 0

Marc Pittman, led the St.Lawrence Laurentians to
victory scoring the only goal of the match while
Adam Loder recorded the shut-out.

Two victories give CBS a six point weekend

CBS's - Ayuba Kamara & Chris Hayes

CB Auto Strikers may not win the Molson Challenge Cup in 2011 but their club is moving in the right direction. Last year they turned heads when they defeated the Laurentians. In their open matches this week-end striker Ayuba Kamara netted 3 of the CBS's four goals and Chris Hayes recorded two shut-outs. Kamara who has exception skill and a key eye for the net is a very impressive and talented player. While goal keeper Chris Hayes continued to display his talents and why he was given strong consideration for rookie of the year in 2010 which was eventually won by Scott Woodfine of Holy Cross.

Holy Cross 4 vs Mount Pearl -1

Cross opens season with a win

Holy Cross struck early and they struck often on route to a 4-1 shellacking of Mount Pearl in Molson Challenge Cup action played at KGV on Saturday evening . In the first half, newcomer Michael Dunn, opened the scoring for Cross at the six minute mark and thirteen minutes later it was Chris Bulger finding the mark for Holy Cross. This early two goal lead stood for the first half and it looks as if Holy Cross are definitely the team to beat this season. Mount Pearl has lost the services of last year's MVP, goalkeeper Tyler Putt. Putt has moved to New Brunswick. The lost of Putt's services may very well prevent MP from any chance of competing for first overall this season. Mount Pearl's number one keeper in 2011 now becomes their back-up keeper from last season, Matt Peddle. Peddle is a technically sound goalie but his disadvantage is he is fairly short in structure. Mount Pearl has strengthened the middle of the field with the addition of defectors, Rudy Norman and Jon Grant from the 2010 Laurentians and Kevin Oram from the defunct Western United team.
Mount Pearl came out and looked fairly impressive for the first fifteen minutes of the second half. But a terrible goal, scored on Peddle by Holy Cross's Zack Wade took away any momentum that Pearl had going for them and above all it deflated Mount Pearl spirits. Holy Cross owned the rest of the match. Jeremy Babstock finished off Cross's scoring at the eighty six minute mark, scoring on a header from a corner kick. Mount Pearl lone goal came at the ninety minute mark from Norman on a PK.
