CBS Name Their Challenge Cup Head Coach
Strikers FC, the new Challenge Cup entry from CBS, have named Gary Forsyth as their head coach for their upcoming inaugural season. Forsyth is a native of Scotland who has recently moved to St. John’s. He brings a wealth of experience with him to CBS including coaching roles in Nova Scotia with the Halifax Wanderers Soccer Club U16 and U18 programs, the East End United Boys Soccer Club U17 and U19 programs and the Soccer Nova Scotia U15/16 soccer team.
He has also coached outside of Canada including a two year stint in Scotland as head coach of the Johnstone Burgh Football Club U21. He has coached at the grassroots level at MLS soccer camps in the USA and with Royal Bafokeng Sports in South Africa. He holds a Canadian Soccer Association Provincial “B” Coaching License.
Gary is looking forward to the challenge of starting a club from scratch. “I hope to attract players from the CBS area including players from the CBS Intermediate Team, some U18 players, plus other players from the St. John’s Intermediate League who would like to play at a higher level of competition. I plan on having a well organized side that will play a tough brand of possession soccer. Fitness will be important. To succeed at this level the players must be fit. I know that our first season will be tough, however I expect us to bring a spirit of competition to the field and that each and every game will be a hard fought contest. We will not give up results without a battle”.
Further information will be posted on the CBS Soccer website located at www.cbssoccer.com
